The twins session started a bit earlier, truth be told, even before I met the two tykes. When exactly? Why, at Małgosia and Michał’s wedding. I had no idea that, even though I was capturing one of the most important moment of the happy couples’ lives, it would be just the beginning of our adventure together. In this post – twins session, I won’t be showing you just the titular tykes, but also the wedding session. It’s to show you why a family session is a so-called ‘must have’. I’ll also try to explain how important it is to have a family photographer, and how it can’t be just anyone. I’m not talking about anyone special, but I will try to dig deep into the topic. Sure, anyone can be a photographer, but should they be?

Have any of you already had a family session, perhaps? Do you recall your childhood photos? Usually there is always at least one important person missing, your dad for example, because he’d been the one holding the camera. Try to look at this report not just as a simple family session. Its aim is to show you how important capturing the nature of the family unit is. Here you’ll see everyday rituals of the “W” family, from changing diapers, to feeding, to getting the children ready for a walk. It’s a double dose as well – Mikołaj and Filip have an unlimited supply of both energy and ideas, which can be quite a challenge for their super parents.

Before I show you how the twins session turned out, let’s revisit a few shots from Małgosia and Michał’s wedding, just for fun. As you can see, the color themes doesn’t quite match the current one, but that’s because that report took place in August of 2014 – almost 6 years back! For a photographer and his professional development, that timeline is waaaaaaay long. The trends have changed, the technology has changed, not to mention the experience and skills of the photographer himself. Only by combining the photos into a visual history grants us the results I was striving for. In other words, in a couple of shots I aim to show your Love, capturing fleeting precious moments, so that each photo brings back those memories.

Choosing a wedding photographer is very important, because they could remain with you for years, transforming into your family photographer, if they’re not one already. Sure, you could find a family photographer easily enough, but what if they’re not the right fit for you? The only way to tell is to get a completed photo report. After many years as a photographer I’ve learned one important lesson. I always set the bar for myself very high. Why? To ensure that each next photo story is one for the ages. Let’s say that, in 10 years time, you grab a photo album and immediately remember all those situations and the emotions you’ve felt then. That is a sure-fire recipe for some good photography, don’t you agree?

I think I’ll skip the reception report this time, and focus on the wedding session. I want to show you all I can, so that the underlying meaning will become clear. The twins session is more than just some snapshots; at this point it’s more akin to becoming a psychologist. To better capture the kids of any couple, I try to get to know the parents and aim to find their reflection in their children. Małgosia and Michał are a true crazy-couple, which I hope you’ve noticed on the photos above. I think that quality shines in their babies as well, but that I saw during the twins second session. For now, let’s check out some wedding photos..

The twins first session took place when the tykes were only 6 m.o. - over 4 years since Małgosia married Michał. I hadn’t seen the couple over that time, but I knew I could expect one thing for certain – a lot of fun. And I was right. The family session started right off the bat. As soon as I walked through the door, I immediately saw the two parents with their bundles of joy. Małgosia was whispering sweetly to Filip to rouse him from sleep, meanwhile “Mikołaj has been horsing around with his daddy for the last fifteen minutes”. That’s a direct quote from Michał, btw, spoken right before he caught his breath and jumped back into the game. I decided that this photo would mark the start of the session – I grabbed my camera and faded into the background. ;)

In this report, I’m not going to show you how there is twice as much stuff, from the shoes and toys to the feeding bottles. The only single thing I’ve seen was a stroller and a swing built for two. In the twins session post you’ll see what exactly it means to be parents of twins – sometimes, an extra pair of hands is still not enough. It’s amazing how their personalities differ, even at the age of only 6 m.o. If you have anything you’d like to add, write a comment and share your opinion below. I’d love to hear how this family session looks like to your eyes.

...enough photos, it’s nearing nap time for the boys and their gallant parents. I also need to charge up my equipment for the next adventure titled “the twins session”.

It’s been a year since I’ve last seen the “W” family. It’s our second family session, Mikołaj and Filip are 18 m.o. now. One of them loves to cuddle, the other is an avid climber – can you spot which is which? Despite many challenges the parents face every day, they are the best proof that this is the best “job” in the world!… I can’t wait for my own little rascals.

This is the second part of the 18 m.o. twins session. Immediately after the craziness inside we moved our fun outside, just to catch our breath. For some time now, just for some variety, I’ve been arranging family sessions to take place during rain. This kind of weather is perfect for finding situations worth immortalizing. Taking a child on a walk, especially after it’d been raining, has consequences every parents knows. When tiny feet gain some speed, and they happen upon a puddle you can’t just go around… you can tell the rest from the photos. This time we went out after it had stopped raining, because getting the twins ready and leaving the flat takes time and effort. Fortunately, Małgosia and Michał had the situation well in hand.

As you can see, one of the boys has nodded off, so I think it’s time to finish our story. I hope that you’ve enjoyed seeing the adventures of the “W” family. Now I shall wait for another call from Małgosia and Michał. We’ve decided that every year I’ll come over to see the newest exploits of the two tykes. We’ll focus on what’s most important as the years go by, so that in a few years we’ll be able to create a magnificent story album or maybe even several. If you don’t want to miss anything, come over to our instagram, below you’ll find the links to some photos from the twins session.

Family photos Gdansk. You see before you a short report of my visit to a couple I’ve already photographed in the past. I had the pleasure of preparing their wedding story, and now we are back for a family session. Such is the way of things, and ,in my opinion, if there was a 1-10 happiness scale, this would be well over an 11. It’s always great to once again be a guest in your homes. Monika and Arek are the very best “dream clients”. This is our mission, after all. Ours is a long-term commitment – we keep in touch over the years and nurture our photo-relationship, as it should be done.

Those of you who follow and know our work are well aware that we do not take photos of children in baskets or with a background of tulips etc. Maybe it is cute, but that’s not us, for as long as we can help it. ;) We do lifestyle photos, as varied as each of your lives are. We appear in your flats or houses and for a short while we take part in your everyday life. That’s the simplest explanation, really. We work in a relaxed atmosphere, with no hurry and complete freedom. You know how kids are, sometimes they have so much ‘lifestyle’ that it’s terrifying in all the best ways, but that is the idea. We don’t always have to smile and be in a good mood. This time everyone had been all smiles all the time. All we had to do was stand aside and take photo after photo.

A family session at home? Why, of course! There’s no better way for spending some quality time together. Family photography is a beautiful field. We have always been fascinated by it and we intend to show even more of those happy photos than ever before. A session outside the home also has its charms, you could check one out HERE, which I’ve done at the Open’er Festival. Take your pick. The decision is yours, of course, I’ll be happy with just your bed or even an empty wall. It’s people who build the story, and there’s no fighting it.

Each family member is important to us, both big and small. Those who make a lot of noise as well as the calmer ones, content to lay for a bit and stare up at the sky. I myself had my picture taken with my small family and I always look through those photos with a smile. Time is unstoppable, thus we shouldn’t forget to immortalize our loved ones each day. It is best if that’s done by someone other than you, though. I’ve been there, trust me. Setting up a camera on a tripod will never replace a photographer.

Family sessions are never boring. Each one brings something new. It’s like with weddings. My friends and family always wonder how, after 15 years of work, I have yet to have had my fill. I always tell them – absolutely NEVER. I hope that my health will grant me 15 more years, perhaps even more. Mine is the best ever job in the world.

There are also times, when we have to look at jealousy as well. Like the one below. What can you do, though?

I present to you another visit from the W family, this time in a place where storks come to roost in massive numbers, the largest amount in Poland in fact. Where, you ask? In Mazury, of course. Or, to be more exact, in Włodowo, a small village near Morąga. This is quite a unique place and one Marta feels very close to. There we can find her grandmother’s house, the house Marta herself grew up in and all the generations before her. The building will probably be demolished soon~ish (if you don’t have any ideas for a photo shoot location, this might be the jolt of inspiration you need). It would’ve been a sin not to act on such a valuable idea!

The warm family feel, the lighting and, most of all, the smiles on everyone’s faces truly helped. Walking around the backyard, peeking into windows made me feel as if I was back at my grandparents’ house, full of smiles and mischief. Will you feel it as well, I wonder?

P.S. While compiling this photo-story, I’ve already started wondering when and where we might meet next time?!?
